Comfortable fit, warm, great wind blocker.

I've use this hat all winter, it's nice and warm, cuts the wind and most importantly, the lining doesn't make my scalp itch. Yes, the lining is 'weird', but I like it.

I understand all of the negative reviews on this hat and I was quite skeptical and even considered canceling my order before its arrival, But I'm glad I didn't in fact this could quite possibly be the best that I've ever owned in terms of warmth and comfort. Maybe that's a sad testament to my hat ownership history but I have tried many hats in search of something that is warm in the coldest conditions And this is the best I've found so far. Not only does it offer full coverage but it is fairly snug-fitting, can be pulled way down for max coverage, and its totally windproof and warm. It also looks kind of cool However I will say I don't fully understand having a waterproof hat with an acrylic beanie on top of it that presumably would soak up water like a sponge so that doesn't make sense. But for super cold windy conditions this hat is difficult to beat And it's not that crinkly or noisy As long as you don't fuss with it While you're wearing it haha. 2 other comments: 1, I don't think it's an appropriate hat for high activity levels, and 2, it is not exactly a good value even with a standard discount But if you manage to buy it on clearance or with rewards and free shipping I would recommend purchasing it and judging for yourself.
- MastergardnerdGenderHeightTypeActivityPros Comfort, VersatileConsReturned - lining was noisyJan 3, 2024
I walk often in the winter evenings so the waterproof and reflective qualities were a big plus. However, the lining is crinkly and makes noise whenever I moved my head. I felt like I was wearing a potato chip bag. The fit was great, but sadly I am returning it.
- Jay ZeeGenderHeightTypeActivityProsCons UncomfortableIt's warm, but not comfortableMar 14, 2025
It's a warm beanie. However the liner on the inside is very noisy and "loose". I wear it under a hard hat and it is constantly moving around underneath. Not what I expect from a FA item.

The reflective aspect is great and it's a warm hat but it has this weird plastic liner inside was purpose is unknown to me and much rather have the fabric on my mostly bald head versus a piece of plastic
- S Deswood | Verified userGenderHeightTypeActivityPros Good Price / ValueCons Poor Quality, UncomfortableWeird plastic feel and soundDec 27, 2024
I might gotten by with a plastic bag on my head. I like the idea of the reflective border but the plastic interior is a bit goofy. Might be considered a quality issue.
- Old Hiker ChickGenderHeightTypeActivityProsConsStrange Hat LiningNov 26, 2024
Good looking hat with stylish reflective band. Bought two of these for family members who rejected the hats due to loud crinkly sounds when pulling on and adjusting during wear. Both men walk at night along the road and need to hear traffic to stay safe. Since everyone otherwise liked their hats, I cut a slit on the inside, turned the hat inside out, removed the lining, turned the hat back to right side out, and sewed the slit closed. For such a well designed comfortable hat (after the inside plastic layer was removed), the waterproof lining between the inside and outside layers was nothing more than thin plastic, similar in weight and texture to a cheap throwaway grocery store bag. As an expert knitter and seamstress, I was appalled. Whoever decided it was a good design feature to throw a plastic baggie inside a quality hat in an attempt to make it waterproof, should seriously rethink their career for not understanding clothing design at all.

This has is not what I would consider as a beanie, it looks more like a stocking hat- it tall. My primary complaint is the inside insulation material is crackly loud on the ears- never put a hat on before that is loud, it does seem to be quite warm, I like the logo marking and the stripe.
- SteeleIIIGenderHeightTypeActivityProsCons Poor Quality, UncomfortableI would not buy this againMar 5, 2025
I use the product when it is cold out. I hate the sound of the plastic inside.
- louist66GenderHeightTypeActivityProsCons UncomfortableMuch different from the previous beanies I purchasedFeb 27, 2025
The previous beanies I got were excellent as they had a fleece lining inside. Besides the beautiful look and colour, this one regretfully has a polyester lining and, between the lining and the shell, there is a plastic film, which causes a noise while wearing it. It may help to make it waterproof but uncomfortable to wear. Regretfully I could not try it before purchasing because I would typically buy in stores, but all the ones in my areas closed. I am sorry for this, but I do not recommend this item.
- LSCGenderHeightTypeActivityProsCons Not Versatile, Poor Fit, Poor Quality, UncomfortableDisappointedJan 25, 2025
Like another review stated, the reflective quality of the hat is what sounded great. But the reality is the liner is weird (I assume it is meant to make it waterproof), but it slippery and nosy, and frankly does not stay on my head - slides off my hair when moving about, which makes it useless. Very disappointed, I wish I had selected another hat.
- DanGenderHeightTypeActivityProsConsGood idea, terrible executionJan 24, 2024
Typically love EB products but this was a total let down. I like the idea of this being water proof, but the execution is terrible. Like others have said, it's noisy. Not just a little bit noisy, it's unwearable levels of noisy. I might donate it, but that's like trying to donate a muffin stump - no one wants that.
- BrianGenderHeightTypeActivityProsCons UncomfortableNoisy HatJan 8, 2024
The inside lining is really noisy and uncomfortable on my ears and exposed skin. It was not as comfortable as I expected and I won't wear it. I got it on a sale so no use in returning it so I will just donate it.
- RobGenderHeightTypeActivityProsCons Poor FitCrinkle Material LinerNov 30, 2023
My complaint with this hat is the crinkle material that the liner is made from. Put it in your head and it's like someone is wadding up paper in your ears all day. It's super annoying and not at all the quality that I expect from Eddie Bauer.
- SidneyMafiaGenderHeightTypeActivityPros FitCons UncomfortableNoisy BeanieNov 13, 2023
First I will say I've been a long time fan and wearer of Eddie Bauer products. Great looking Beanie. At first that it was a manufacturing defect. I put it on, and it sounded like tin foil in-between the knit outer and the liner. it was the loudest beanie I've ever worn. If you're looking for a Beanie that will have you constantly looking around to identify the noise around you, then this beans is for you. If you are looking for a quiet Beanie, pass on this one. instead of returning it, I sliced open the liner and inside was a plastic barrier that sounded like I was pulling out a Cellophane wrapper in a Church. Whoever approved of this design at EB needs to be punished by being made to wear this beanie for the next six month.

Between the inner lining and outer shell there is some kind of paper (tissue paper) which cannot be removed. It is annoying and makes a rustling noise when worn.
