I bought this hat on a whim in store, and I'm glad I did! As a bald man, I've found toques to be mostly uncomfortable, and they tend to fit poorly or slide up. But this hat is perfect for me. It's soft on the inside, and comfortably warm without being stifling. The ear flaps do cover my ears almost entirely, and the back of my neck is protected from wind and sun. The bill helps with snow, wind, and sun as well. I found the L/XL to be a perfect fit for my head, but if I were a man with an unusually large head or plenty of hair, I could see how the hat would be too tight or the ear flaps too short for the ears. As with any winter cap with ear flaps, sound will be muffled. One final note is that the hat is dry clean only; thankfully, I haven't found myself sweating underneath it at all. Whether indoors or out, this hat keeps my head at a perfect temperature.

It looks kind of goofy but is very warm. Wear it with a hoodie and your brain will stay toasty all day long. I had no trouble with the flaps being too short for my ears.

This hat was recommended to me by my sister's husband who is balding like my husband. It is really warm and comfortable and other than being a little on the Elmer Fudd style spectrum with the ear flaps down, it looks great!
