In 2014, while snowboarding in Vail, Colorado, Trevor suffered a traumatic spinal injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Undaunted, he took up sit skiing, starting on bunny slopes while dreaming of unlimited speed and deep powder. With the help of physical therapy and training camp scholarships from the High Fives Foundation, Trevor built up his strength and skills until February 2019, when he became the first disabled athlete to participate in the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There, skiers and riders take on the nearly vertical chute of Corbet’s Couloir. Not only did he compete, but Trevor won the Riders’ Choice Award, given to the athlete with the favorite run, as chosen by the competing athletes. Trevor is now a pro skier and an active member and leader of the High Fives Foundation, an organization based in Lake Tahoe, CA that focuses on preventing life-changing accidents in outdoor sports and provides resources, hope, and the opportunity to get back into the outdoors to those who have suffered life-altering injuries.
