Mikah Meyer is a professional adventurer and LGBTQ+ rights advocate who became the first person to visit all 419 US National Parks in a single journey. The road trip began as a way to honor his father, who had recently passed away at the age of 58. Sensing that life is short, Mikah decided to focus on the things that were important to him, including taking the retirement road trip his father had always dreamed of. The journey took 3 years to complete, and as he posted his travel updates on social media, he discovered that people from all walks of life loved National Parks…it was something almost everyone could relate to. With this project, he was able to share what it was like to be LGBTQ+ in the outdoors, and he shattered barriers by being involved in LGBTQ-inclusive marketing in the outdoor recreation industry. He was also recognized during 2019’s WorldPride as one of their #Pride50 honorees alongside innovators like James Baldwin and Marsha P. Johnson.
A versatile adventurer, Mikah has paddled local waterways in his home city of Minneapolis, run across entire states, including Mississippi, Minnesota, and North Dakota, and biked the entire coastline of Oregon…all while capturing content and sharing his adventures through mixed media to raise awareness about how to make the outdoors more welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community.

To further this goal, Mikah founded the Outside Safe Space in 2020. It’s a community-based organization that promotes representation and inclusivity of LGBTQ+ people and allies in outdoor spaces, and it provides allies with a simple way to make the great outdoors more accessible.
In 2021 Mikah also completed (what we believe) is the all-queer first descent of the Colorado River with The Venture Out Project, sponsored by Eddie Bauer.
